Cane Class with Su'ad:
Challenge yourself and use a cane!!! Ever wondered
how you can add this exciting prop to your dance routine? We'll review the basics
of cane technique (useful for women or men)' add some advanced work (for those
already using a cane); and work on a short choreography so you can confidently
use a cane in your next show! Su'ad has studied cane/tahtib with many notable
teachers including Yousry Sharif, Bobby Farrah and Morocco!!
About
Su'ad:
Su'ad of Connecticut has been a performer, teacher and choreographer
since 1981. She was co-founder of troupe Hazet Helwa in Wisconsin. In late 1991,
she established Desert Moon Dancers, who have performed at many dance seminars
in the Northeast, including First Night Hartford and the first Connecticut Dance
Alive! Festival at the Garde Arts Theatre in New London. Over the years, Su'ad
has studied with many great teachers, but counts as her greatest influences the
late Ibrahim Farrah, and more recently Anahid Sofian and Morocco of New York City.
She has developed the concepts "Dancing with the Brain and Soul" and
"Dance Dynamics. With Sonia Dunbar, she is co-proprietor of Dar el Beida,
Middle Eastern Costume & Accessories business.

Zills Class with Farasha!
Learn the secrets of great Zill playing and
how to add dynamic excitement to your dance with their scintillating sounds! Zill
Drills, technique and a short choreography will be taught. Farasha has been greatly
inspired by "Bobby" and Morocco of NYC!!
About
Farasha:
Performer, teacher and choreographer from New Jersey, Farasha
began her dance career in Harrisburg, PA in the early 1980's as a member of Troupe
Kismet, appearing in the Harrisburg Arts Festival and Musicfest in Bethlehem.
In New Jersey, she performed with the Moon & Star Dance troupe. She emcees
and has performed in - the annual East Brunswick Community Fair. She teaches
privately at her Jackson home studio. Farasha is featured in the book Belly Laughs
and is producer of the late Ibrahim Farrah's final concert video, A Journey. Farasha
is a proud member of Morocco's Casbah Dance Experience, which has performed at
Lincoln Center, NYC and in Cairo, Egypt. She is the proprietor of Farasha's Dance
Treasures, purveyors of dazzling costumes and accessories.
Performance
& Dance Circle: After the completion of the workshops, there will be 2 exciting
performances by our guest teachers Farasha & Su'ad. Then we will all join
in a dance circle and pass the dance scarf around and have loads of fun dancing
for eachother!!
